Realistic Horse and Farmer
With the ´Realistic Horse and Farmer´ project I graduated from the bachelor education IGAD, International Game Architecture and Design at the NHTV in Breda, The Netherlands. This project was about showing what I have learned during my education and further developing my sculpting and texturing techniques. Within a timeframe of 10 weeks I created a Clydesdale horse and British farmer as realistic as possible.
The theme ´realistic´ was chosen because I wanted to show my skills for 3d form and realistic detail. To challenge myself I chose to create a human and an animal, both highly difficult 3d forms to sculpt realistic. Also the creation of realistic hair and materials, for example the Maya hair and fur systems and the human SSS skin shader, were challenging to get as realistic as possible. By keeping the render time low I was able to make many renders with small adjustments in the material settings. By comparing these renders I was able to tweak the outcome as realistic as possible with in the time frame.
The project has been build in Autodesk Maya, sculpt with Autodesk Mudbox, rendered with Mental Ray, and textured with Adobe Photoshop.
